The risk of hidden (faecal occult) blood in the stool increases with age. Fecal blood is an indicator of several gastrointestinal disorders such as diverticulitis, colitis, polyps, and colorectal cancer. The FOB self-test from The Medical Tester is a high-quality, rapid test for home use to detect the presence of hidden (faecal occult) blood in the stool.

Intended to aid in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal disorders, this FOB self-test detects the presence of human hemoglobin (Hb) at a cut-off level of 40 ng/mL and uses antibodies directed against human hemoglobin to control blood in the detect stool. If the sample contains this antigen, a colored test line will appear indicating a positive result.
Reliability of self-tests is based on true positive or true negative results and was established after a clinical trial of 646 participants and is greater than 94%.

1. Remove the lancing device from the buffer bottle
2. Press the lancing device three times into your stool
3. Place the lancing device back in the buffer bottle and then shake the bottle well
4. Place two drops from the buffer bottle into the test cassette
5. Wait 5 minutes and read the result.

Looking at sensitivity and specificity, the confidence values of the FOB test are high. In addition, the test is also CE certified.
The sensitivity of a medical test is the percentage of true positive results among sick persons.
